In a thousand years

the seas have risen

six to eight inches.

In this century’s hundred,

they’ll rise at least three feet.

They’ll swallow thousands of square miles

of earth,

displace millions of our species,

uproot countless others—or worse.

Human ingenuity and invention,

in the greedy grip of capital,

warps and devours life and nature.

To save nature,

end unnatural capitalism.
